Meryl Streep winning Best Actress (The Iron Lady), Viola Davis losing, Christopher Plummer becoming the oldest Oscar winner of all time for Best Supporting Actor (Beginners), Jean Dujardin was the first French actor to win an Oscar (The Artist, Best Actor). The Artist was the first silent film to win an Oscar for Best Picture in 80 years.
