LYRICS:
Oscar season’s here.
A mediocre year.
Say, you had a lot of flicks try to win your votes.
A few of them had luck, and actually made out with
Oscar noms
Oscar noms
You got nine choices, only one lasts forever,
Now it’s time to find out which one is better.
Oscar noms
Oscar noms
War Horse made it on the list,
Obvious and trite,
Will not win this fight.
Spielberg making this movie
Like he never had a nom,
Never had a nom
Scorcese’s first for young’uns really looked so precious,
And so did Tree of Life,
But that one caused depression, and you
Even had a flick written by Aaron Sorkin,
But let’s face it, that one’s such a bore!
And then you’ve got The Help, but that’s a bit older,
So it will probably end up getting the cold shoulder.
This one’s sitting here like a place holder,
Didn’t get good reviews, in fact it got smoldered.
Everyone thought the frontrunner would be violent,
But it turned out it sucked, so now it’s the one that’s silent.
Oscar noms
(Oscar noms)
And Alexander Payne, I think we get the point,
Fourth movie in a row for us to anoint with
Oscar noms
Oscar noms
Finally we are thrilled,
Woody’s not a hack.
Had a big comeback.
The way he’s making his movies
Like when he used to get some noms,
Used to get some noms
You had a lot of actors that transformed themselves.
All of it in hopes of getting awards on their shelves.
But what’s with Jonah Hill?
And why put Nick Nolte
Up against these Europeans?
That’s just insulting.
Now, I admire Brad Pitt and Gary Oldman,
But they need to pick better movies to perform in.
That Mexican is cool,
And Clooney’s such a beast,
But they’ll probably give it to the one who spoke the least.
Two supporting actresses only had to poop,
And that was all it took for those women to scoop
Oscar noms
Oscar noms
Best Actress? I enjoyed Streep, Williams, Mara, Davis,
But on Glenn Close I’m stuck, what the in God’s name is
Albert Nobbs?
Albert Nobbs?
Oooh,
And I just want to see the show,
To see who is the best
And win the pool.
I wanna win my Oscar pool,
Yeah

Oscar winners Robert DeNiro, Hilary Swank and Halle Berry slum it in Garry Marshall’s (“Pretty Woman”) “New Year’s Eve”…an ensemble romantic comedy also starring Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl, Michelle Pfeiffer, Lea Michele, Jon Bon Jovi and Zac Efron. Alison Bailes wonders why such an A-list cast would show up for such trite material.
Woody’s comedy monologue at the Academy Awards. He hadn’t lost his stand-up touch.
