What bottom feeders are good with tiger oscars?

I was just given a 55 gallon tank and I am considering putting one or two tiger oscars in it. I may possibly put in just one tiger and a jack dempsey, not sure yet.

A 55-gallon tank is too small for one Oscar, and much too small for two Oscars. One Oscar and one Jack Dempsey would be even worse in a tank that size.
Put a smaller cichlid species (one that doesn’t grow bigger than six inches or so) in that 55, and you will enjoy Oscar-like behavior without crowding your fish to death.

Keeping bottom feeders with Oscars is problematic, because Oscars stake out their territory on the bottom of the tank, and will tend to harass any fish that competes with them for bottom space.

A 55 would be a tight fit for a full grown oscar (only 12" front to back, oscars can grow to 18" or more). I wouldn’t add any tankmates, but I wouldn’t have an Oscar in a 55. If you want anything in with the Oscar look into getting a 100+ gallon tank.

    I will answer straightforward.

Get bigger plecostomus than the oscar, at times, your oscar will run after the pleco but some oscar will not, just observe but it will still depend on how big your tank is. if it is fairly big for both fish, then, there would be no problem at all.
