   Academy Awards are also known as Oscars – presented by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS)

   The Academy Awards are The Oscars, it’s the same award show.

   The Golden Globes is a separate award show that has both film and television categories.

   The "Oscars" are another name for the Academy Awards…Oscar is the name of the statue they give. The Golden Globes are a different set of awards given to TV and movie stars by the Foreign Press Association.

   The Oscars is just the common nickname for the Academy Awards. They both refer to the same show. The Golden Globes is an entirely different award show.

   The Golden globes are for television & movies and are voted on and given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Assoc.

   The Oscars (only for films) are voted on by the people who make the movies. Nominations come from each group. For example screen writers vote on screen writers for the nominations. The whole Academy of Motions Picture Arts and Sciences can vote on the final picks for the awards.

   In the past the Foreign press (Golden Globes) has usually voted for big spectacles (not this year.) They also have a split category for best film and best actors by drama and musical or comedy. Oscars only have best picture and actor etc. which encompasses all genres

   The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the actual entity. The statuette,nicknamed "Oscar"(the actual account of how the statuette got it’s name was claimed by several people,including Bette Davis who insisted that the statue’s read end resembled that of her first husband Harmon "O" Nelson. Before she died however she gave up any claim to the name
