Ok, Shakespeare in Love is not a bad movie, but The Thin Red Line was the film that deserved all the awards that year, and I can’t believe some like American Beauty won over The Sixth Sense

quinner111089: I think in general 1994 had some tough competition. Shawshank Redemption was AMAZING but Forrest Gump is as well. I agree that Raging Bull should’ve won…LA Confidential was really good but no contendor to Titanic even though its acting was far more advanced. Some Like It Hot—CLASSIC :)

    For me, the biggest …
For me, the biggest Oscar travesty was Forrest Gump beating The Shawshank Redemption to the award. Other worthy winners would be Some Like It Hot (1959), LA Confidential (1997), Raging Bull (1980) & Goodfellas (1990)

    What about Saving …
What about Saving Private Ryan in ‘98. Shakespeare in Love was a great movie, but it was no SPR. I’m going to assume that Harvey Weinstein did a something to make sure any Miramax made movie finished on top.

    Firstly, neither …
Firstly, neither Atonement nor There Will Be Blood were better than No Country. The former two had more flaws and the Coens did a better job directing, not to mention the screenplay and the cinematography was superior. Don’t get me wrong I truly loved There Will Be Blood, but No Country deserved and earned the Oscar.

If you wanna talk about snubs, then you should mention Citizen Kane not winning in 1941.
