As big as whites, and that those dreams were obtainable. So, before you judge Halle on her acceptance speech, know that before her blacks- especially women, did not expect to get many leading roles, let alone expect to be able to receive the highest honor of film recognition. It is also thanks to Halle that blacks could go out for roles that did not specifically call for a black actor. Halle is a pivotal actress, that helped changed cinematic entertainment.

Some of these comments really kill me. You can count on 2 hands how many black men won for best actor, and if I am not mistaken Halle stands alone as the ONLY black woman to win best actress- I am speaking about leads. Halle was overly, yes, but because she was carrying the hopes and dreams of EVERY black woman on her shoulder that night. I assume most of the people leaving comments here are white, so you just don’t understand how much blacks needed that win. To show that they could dream just

    Perfect comment, …
Perfect comment, and ABSOLUTELY right on about Halle. She may have (f)lucked up on the Oscar, but she will never have what it takes to be a real actress, much less a role model of any sort, or even a human being. She will NEVER be in the same league as real actors such as Sidney Poitier, Ingrid, Bette, Liz, Vivien…or anyone with intelligence, sophistication, talent, and class.
