What Best Picture winners at the Oscars are must see movies?

November 21st, 2011

Posted by admin in oscars winners | 4 Comments »

I am a huge movie fan. I was just wondering out of all of the movies that have won and Oscar for best picture, which ones are a must see.

Ooh, there are a few, so I’m just going to list them from Wikipedia.

80th Annual Academy Awards – No Country for Old Men
74th Annual Academy Awards – A Beautiful Mind
73rd Annual Academy Awards – Gladiator
70th Annual Academy Awards – Titanic
68th Annual Academy Awards – Braveheart
66th Annual Academy Awards – Schindler’s List
64th Annual Academy Awards – The Silence of the Lambs
62nd Annual Academy Awards – Driving Miss Daisy
61st Annual Academy Awards – Rain Man
51st Annual Academy Awards -The Deer Hunter
48th Annual Academy Awards – One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
47th Annual Academy Awards – The Godfather, Part II
45th Annual Academy Awards – The Godfather
42nd Annual Academy Awards – Midnight Cowboy
41st Annual Academy Awards – Oliver!
39th Annual Academy Awards – A Man for All Seasons
38th Annual Academy Awards – The Sound of Music
35th Annual Academy Awards – Lawrence of Arabia
34th Annual Academy Awards – West Side Story
30th Annual Academy Awards – The Bridge on the River Kwai
23rd Annual Academy Awards – All About Eve
16th Annual Academy Awards – Casablanca
13th Annual Academy Awards – Rebecca
12th Annual Academy Awards – Gone with the Wind
8th Annual Academy Awards – Mutiny on the Bounty
7th Annual Academy Awards – It Happened One Night
3rd Annual Academy Awards – All Quiet on the Western Front

I’ve made a few omissions, such as Slumdog Millionaire, American Beauty, and Forrest Gump – for while these are critically acclaimed, well-loved and quite well-made films, I just can’t stand them. Similarly, a few epics that many fans despise, like Titanic and Gladiator, are on there simply because I really like them.

I’m going to edit this because I realize it didn’t make sense – while I personally didn’t care for those films, it might be that you find them worthwhile. The other omissions are ones that I don’t find to be must-sees in comparisons with the rest of the list; ergo, the top-priority viewings.
