Brad Pitt Reveals the “Most Awesome Idea” For Choosing Oscar Winners — Ever!

February 4th, 2012

Posted by admin in oscars winners | 4 Comments »

Hi there, I’m Lauren Bradshaw. Brad Pitt shares his inventive idea for selecting Oscar winners in today’s PopSugar Rush.

The Oscars are just weeks away, and even though it’s going to be a tight race this year in the Best Actor category, Brad Pitt has a new idea on how to settle the matter. Brad is an underdog up against George Clooney, Demian Bichir, Gary Oldman, and Jean Dujardin, but Mr. Pitt has an idea for how he might just win:

BRAD PITT: You know what I think they should do?
JON STEWART: What do you think they should do?
BRAD PITT: I think they should just put a trophy on the table, and like one of those car contests, we should just put our hand on it, to see who can hold it the longest.
JON STEWART: That is the most awesome idea I have ever heard.
BRAD PITT: And the last man standing takes the trophy.
JON STEWART: That’s a tremendous idea!
BRAD PITT: Hands on the Oscar.
JON STEWART: Why isn’t that a movie right now?

Brad stopped by the Daily Show With Jon Stewart last night, where he was mobbed by fans outside, anxious for the A-lister’s autograph. [OnCam] It’s all part of Brad’s latest promotional rounds for Moneyball, which have included recent stops at Inside the Actors Studio and The Today Show, where best supporting actor nominee and costar Jonah Hill revealed that he’s pulling for Brad to win.

JONAH HILL: I genuinely think if I wasn’t in this film, he gave my favorite performance of the year, so my vote would go to him.

We won’t know for sure who is going to take home the Oscar until the show airs on February 26, but if voters can’t decide, there’s always Brad’s idea.

Movie Review: Star-Studded “New Year’s Eve” Isn’t a Ball

January 1st, 2012

Oscar winners Robert DeNiro, Hilary Swank and Halle Berry slum it in Garry Marshall’s (“Pretty Woman”) “New Year’s Eve”…an ensemble romantic comedy also starring Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl, Michelle Pfeiffer, Lea Michele, Jon Bon Jovi and Zac Efron. Alison Bailes wonders why such an A-list cast would show up for such trite material.

What Best Picture winners at the Oscars are must see movies?

November 21st, 2011

Posted by admin in oscars winners | 4 Comments »

I am a huge movie fan. I was just wondering out of all of the movies that have won and Oscar for best picture, which ones are a must see.

Ooh, there are a few, so I’m just going to list them from Wikipedia.

80th Annual Academy Awards – No Country for Old Men
74th Annual Academy Awards – A Beautiful Mind
73rd Annual Academy Awards – Gladiator
70th Annual Academy Awards – Titanic
68th Annual Academy Awards – Braveheart
66th Annual Academy Awards – Schindler’s List
64th Annual Academy Awards – The Silence of the Lambs
62nd Annual Academy Awards – Driving Miss Daisy
61st Annual Academy Awards – Rain Man
51st Annual Academy Awards -The Deer Hunter
48th Annual Academy Awards – One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
47th Annual Academy Awards – The Godfather, Part II
45th Annual Academy Awards – The Godfather
42nd Annual Academy Awards – Midnight Cowboy
41st Annual Academy Awards – Oliver!
39th Annual Academy Awards – A Man for All Seasons
38th Annual Academy Awards – The Sound of Music
35th Annual Academy Awards – Lawrence of Arabia
34th Annual Academy Awards – West Side Story
30th Annual Academy Awards – The Bridge on the River Kwai
23rd Annual Academy Awards – All About Eve
16th Annual Academy Awards – Casablanca
13th Annual Academy Awards – Rebecca
12th Annual Academy Awards – Gone with the Wind
8th Annual Academy Awards – Mutiny on the Bounty
7th Annual Academy Awards – It Happened One Night
3rd Annual Academy Awards – All Quiet on the Western Front

I’ve made a few omissions, such as Slumdog Millionaire, American Beauty, and Forrest Gump – for while these are critically acclaimed, well-loved and quite well-made films, I just can’t stand them. Similarly, a few epics that many fans despise, like Titanic and Gladiator, are on there simply because I really like them.

I’m going to edit this because I realize it didn’t make sense – while I personally didn’t care for those films, it might be that you find them worthwhile. The other omissions are ones that I don’t find to be must-sees in comparisons with the rest of the list; ergo, the top-priority viewings.
