Oscar Nominations – Academy Award nominees read out in Los Angeles

The nominees for this year’s Academy Awards have been read out in Los Angeles. Nine movies are up for the Best Picture Oscar; ‘War Horse’, ‘The Artist’, ‘Moneyball’, ‘The Descendants’, ‘The Tree of Life’, ‘Midnight in Paris’, ‘The Help’, ‘Hugo’ and ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’. George Clooney and Meryl Streep are favourites to win Best Actor and Best Actress. The Oscars take place on Feb 26th at the Kodak Theatre in LA.

I found this digging around in around in my files. It’s the 78th Academy Awards Closer – the part of the Oscars that nobody gets to hear. The host was Jon Stewart. Harold Wheeler, conductor & arranger. The featured soloists are Dan Higgins (alto) and Wayne Bergeron (trumpet). The trumpet section for the show was Rick Baptist (1st), Wayne Bergeron, Warren Luening, and Bobby Findley. I recorded it not knowing what to expect – for posterity. What I got was pure awesome!
