The Oscars (Academy Awards) judge and reward talent based on the merits of the performance of a certain film whereas the Grammy Awards seem to only reward entrants based on sales. Whoever makes the most money gets the trophies, so the odds of a Gaborey Sidibe type nomination (a.k.a. underdog) in the Grammy Awards would be unlikely, let alone a winner probably. Amerie was nominated in 2005 but lost to Mariah Carey. Both are talented singers but I got a feeling Carey probably won that award because the Grammy voters felt sorry for her and wanted to revive her comeback from the early 90s as opposed to acknowledging a new talent such as Amerie. Drake will probably win largely due to his association with Lil Wayne at the 2011 Grammys. Nicki Minaj might get nominated too. So it should be interesting.
Ummm… What the hell! They did not give Mariah sympathy grammy’s if not she deserved more. She had the best selling album of the year (went diamond selling over 10 000 000) and she didn’t even get "Album of the Year". She scored two #1 singles We Belong Together (song of the decade 14 weeks top spot) and Don’t Forget About Us! She had a #2 "Shake It Off" which was only being blocked by her own song!
